This Thursday we have programmed a very cosy night. We have been invited by the already infamous PopupKlup in Arnhem to come by and spin some records. We thaught it would be cool to make it a very danceable night without using that 4×4 beat rhythm for a time. We’re gonna try to play as much of other genres instead. Expect a night full of warmth and musicality. Expect Afro from Addis Abeba, Dub from the Island, Disco from the seventies, hip-hop from east- to westcoast, bossa from brasil and cosmic jazz from this universe. Our better: expect to dance! We asked the very talented Eaglemen (Red Light Radio) and our good friend Le Roi Jacquot to come party with us. Rik Payne and Bert de Rooij are your hosts as usually.
The 8th and last Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by Juxta-don Bert de Rooij. We hope you enjoyed our Dilla-Tribute Week. Thanks to all the involved DJ’s, but foremost: thank you, Jay Dee.
The 7th Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by Elias Mazian, who only recorded the originals that Dilla used to sample for his tracks. Tomorrow we post the last tribute-mix!
The 6th Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by Torus. Just a couple of mixes to go!
The 5th Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by Juxtapose co-founder and resident, Rik Payne. Yes, still more mixes to come this week!
The 4th Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by our Belgian friend, San Soda (WPH). Still more mixes to come this week!
The third Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by Le Roi Jacquot (Juxtapose). Still more mixes to come this week!
The second Dilla-Tribute mix is provided by Eaglemen (Red Light Radio). More mixes to come this week!
This year Juxtapose will remember a legend called James Dewitt Yancey, better know as J Dilla. It’s exactly seven years ago that one of hip-hop’s most influential people died of a fatal blood disease. Juxtapose asked some DJ’s to create a mix-tape with only Dilla tunes. This week we will post them on our Soundcloud for you to enjoy and discover all that lovely JD tunes. We start of with a mix from the legendary Aardvarck. More mixes to come this week!
Here you go, Juxtape nummero eighto. We think we can safely state that most of the music in this tape did not come by in the previous podcasts.
